Indian prosecution allowed to proceed
The Supreme Court of India recorded sexual-assault allegations against Kripalu Maharaj and others and reversed a premature discharge. It did not convict them or decide the allegations were true.
Texas charges and bond agreement
Saraswati faced two ten-count indictments. Spiegel guaranteed a $10 million personal bond permitting India travel under a State-agreed arrangement.
Conviction, disappearance, and financial subpoenas
Saraswati was convicted, failed to appear, and was sentenced in absentia. Spiegel and other parties unsuccessfully challenged narrowed subpoenas for JKP-paid witness travel records.
Escape route reported
Reporting based on a Hays County warrant affidavit described follower assistance through Mexico and onward travel to India using a false passport.

A 2012 report based on a Hays County search-warrant affidavit, phone records, emails, border records, and interviews described a coordinated route through Nuevo Laredo and Tijuana before Saraswati reached India.

- Reportedly told marshals that a temple employee asked him to assist, obtain a false passport, and contact charter operators. The source does not establish that he complied.
- Jenifer Deutsch, also called Vrinda Devi
- Reportedly made repeated trips to Nuevo Laredo and Tijuana. Travel alone is circumstantial and does not prove a particular act of assistance.
- Vishwambhari Devi
- Saraswati's personal aide. An India life-insurance activation was treated as an investigative clue, not proof of transport.

- Ashram managing member quoted as denying knowledge that anyone at the ashram supported the escape.
